James Lee Studio Manager | Ceramic Artist
James approach to pottery is one that is infectious, in both his teaching and ability to share his understanding of the material. James works alongside kelly with the same approach and ethos towards the material of clay.
James approaches pottery from an architectural mindset, meticulously designing each piece, envisioning its form, structure, and function before laying hands on the clay. His process is one of precision and control. He engineers the material, manipulating it with calculated movements to achieve the desired outcome. Every curve, angle, and decoration is crafted with deliberate intent, as James strives to marry art with technical ability. His work tells a story of experimentation, innovation, and a deep respect for the inherent properties of clay. Through each piece James invites viewers to explore the intersection of creativity and craftsmanship, where the boundaries of the material are meant to be challenged, and the possibilities are limitless.
